As far back as I can remember, I have reached out for God. Being in Catholic school from preschool to 8th grade gave me the framework of Christianity that guided me in my search. I began to know God personally when I started suffering clinical depression and needed an eternal foundation for my life. I began seeking out the purpose of life.
I started by reading the Bible for hours on end and meeting with my uncle Mike, an evangelical singer. Our discussions centered around my quest to be intimate with God. Mike brought me along to a Bible study run by his friend Randy. After a few weeks of gathering to explore the Bible, Randy began seeking out a larger space to convene. Growing as a new community of believers was a unique experience that I treasure.
During this time Randy became an ordained pastor. My family supported Randy and me by coming to his ordination. Aware of my hunger for God, Randy invited me to a class on evangelism. As I went through these activities, I realized my heart was in Protestantism. Before I went to sleep I would cry out to Jesus to save me from my sin and give me new life in Him. I started talking to my friends about how you must be born again. I soaked in Christian radio and absorbed teachings from Christian web sites. Jesus became and is the core of my being. If asked who I am, I would say a follower of Jesus Christ.
Understanding the Gospel has invested me with a desire to spread the Good News. I see my purpose in life as leading others to Christ. He who wins souls is truly wise.
My grandma on my mother's side was another model for my own faith. Her son Mike helped her understand the necessity of the New Birth, thus freeing her from sin. Her integrity was illuminated by her many tireless and selfless acts of love for her family. Her character echoes in my mind as a pillar of the faith. She went to be with Jesus at the age of 70, and I am ecstatic that I will spend eternity with her. All praise be to the Begotten Son of God.";"As far back as I can remember, I have reached out for God.
